Dried Orange Blossoms (Citrus aurantium) are beautifully aromatic citrus flowers traditionally gathered from the blossoms of the bitter orange tree. Once dried, the delicate flowers develop warm cream, honey-gold and soft brown tones while retaining their distinctive floral-citrus character.

Traditionally prepared as a botanical infusion, Orange Blossoms create a fragrant cup commonly known as orange blossom tea. Their character is delicately floral, softly citrusy and naturally aromatic, making them equally beautiful enjoyed alone or blended with complementary flowers and herbs.

Orange blossoms have a long history of use across Mediterranean, Middle Eastern and North African food and botanical traditions, where their unmistakable fragrance has been incorporated into teas, culinary preparations and aromatic rituals.

At Flowers from my Meadow, our Orange Blossoms are kept pure and uncomplicated — carefully packed as a single dried botanical for tea, botanical blending and creative kitchen preparations.

How to Prepare

Add 1–2 teaspoons of dried Orange Blossoms to a cup or teapot. Pour over freshly boiled water, cover and allow to steep for 5–10 minutes.

Strain before serving and enjoy warm, or allow the infusion to cool for chilled botanical preparations.

Orange Blossoms can also be combined with complementary flowers and herbs according to taste.

Precautions

Use only properly identified Orange Blossoms intended for food and botanical preparations.

If pregnant or breastfeeding, taking medication or managing a medical condition, seek appropriate professional guidance before using herbal preparations.

    The Story Behind the Blossom

Orange blossoms are the delicate white flowers of the citrus tree, celebrated for their beautiful fragrance and their long association with tea, culinary and botanical traditions.

The blossoms appear before the fruit begins to develop, filling citrus trees with a sweet, unmistakably floral aroma. Once carefully dried, they retain their delicate form, pale colour and wonderfully aromatic botanical character.

When steeped, Orange Blossoms create a light, fragrant infusion with soft floral and subtle citrus notes. They can be enjoyed on their own or combined with teas, herbs and other flowers to bring an aromatic layer to loose-leaf botanical blends.

At Flowers from my Meadow, we love Orange Blossoms for the remarkable fragrance held within such a delicate flower. Our dried blossoms are carefully selected and packed to preserve their natural aroma, colour and character — ready for beautiful infusions, creative blends and everyday botanical rituals.

    Questions About Orange Blossoms

From their citrus-tree origins and distinctive fragrance to brewing, blending and culinary use, discover more about dried Orange Blossoms and how to enjoy this beautifully aromatic botanical.
    • Orange Blossoms are the fragrant flowers of the orange tree. Our dried Orange Blossoms are identified as Citrus aurantium, commonly known as Bitter Orange or Seville Orange, a member of the Rutaceae family. The living tree produces fragrant white flowers among glossy green foliage
    • Fresh Orange Blossoms are white and delicate. During drying, our blossoms develop natural cream, beige, honey-gold and light brown tones, with curled petals and irregular floral pieces. This change in appearance is part of the character of the dried botanical.
    • Orange Blossoms are highly aromatic, with a delicate floral character, subtle citrus notes and gentle sweetness. Their fragrance is quite different from the bright, juicy flavour of orange fruit—the blossom has a softer and distinctly floral identity.
    • Pure Orange Blossoms are naturally caffeine-free because they are flowers rather than leaves of the traditional tea plant, Camellia sinensis. They can therefore be enjoyed as a standalone botanical infusion or incorporated into caffeine-free herbal blends.
    • Yes. Their aromatic floral-citrus character makes Orange Blossoms beautiful for botanical blending. Try combining them with Chamomile Flowers, Rose Petals or Lavender Blossoms, or experiment with your own loose-leaf combinations.
    • Yes. Orange blossoms have a long culinary history as a flavouring for beverages and pastries, particularly across Mediterranean and neighbouring culinary traditions. Dried blossoms can be infused and incorporated into cakes, desserts, honey and other creative botanical preparations. They are particularly useful when you want floral fragrance with a subtle citrus character.
    • No. Dried Orange Blossoms are the dried flowers themselves and can be steeped directly in water or used in botanical preparations. Orange blossom water is an aromatic water traditionally produced through the distillation of fresh bitter-orange blossoms
    • Flowers from my Meadow offers dried Orange Blossoms (Citrus aurantium) in South Africa as part of our single botanical and dried flower collection.
