A moment for the skin

A botanical balm or cream can be a welcome part of a moisturising routine. Start with clean hands and choose a product suited to your skin. Touch and massage may make the experience relaxing, but a topical ritual does not need to promise hormone or pain relief.

Choose a suitable product

Read the full ingredient list, especially when creams contain essential oils, botanicals or beeswax. Apply only as directed. Topical products intended for normal skin should not automatically be used on irritated, broken or infected areas.

Patch testing and precautions

When trying a new cosmetic, test a small area first according to the product directions. Stop using it if burning, rash, itching or swelling develops. Seek medical advice for concerning or persistent skin symptoms.

Make it yours

A routine might be as simple as applying a little cream after bathing, caring for dry hands or sitting quietly with a gentle fragrance. There is no required weekly schedule. Follow the product instructions and what feels comfortable for your skin.
