Taraxacum officinale · Chopped Dried Root · Botanical Pantry
An earthy, traditional botanical with a gently bitter character, Dandelion Root has long held a place in European herbal kitchens and botanical traditions.
Dandelion (Taraxacum officinale) is a familiar flowering plant recognised for its golden-yellow flowers, deeply toothed leaves and distinctive white seed heads. Beneath the soil, it develops a substantial taproot that has been gathered and prepared in herbal traditions for generations.
Our dried Dandelion Root is supplied in chopped pieces, preserving its characteristic earthy aroma and pleasantly bitter taste.
Traditionally prepared through gentle simmering, Dandelion Root is a distinctive addition to botanical decoctions and warming pantry recipes. When separately roasted, the root can also develop a deeper, toasted flavour associated with coffee-style botanical beverages.
At Flowers from my Meadow, we keep it pure and uncomplicated: chopped dried Dandelion Root, carefully packed for your home botanical pantry.
How to Prepare
For a traditional root decoction: Add approximately 1 teaspoon of dried Dandelion Root to 250ml water. Bring to a gentle simmer for 10–15 minutes, then strain before serving.
The resulting infusion has a naturally earthy, mildly bitter character.
