Cinnamomum verum (syn. Cinnamomum zeylanicum) · Ceylon Cinnamon Bark Pieces · Aromatic Botanical Pantry
A beautifully fragrant pantry favourite, Cinnamon Bark brings warmth, aromatic sweetness and rich woody character to traditional spice blends, botanical infusions and everyday kitchen rituals.
Our Ceylon Cinnamon comes from Cinnamomum verum (also known as Cinnamomum zeylanicum), an evergreen tree native to Sri Lanka. Its aromatic inner bark has been treasured for centuries in culinary traditions, botanical beverages and spice blends around the world.
Our Ceylon Cinnamon Bark is supplied in natural broken bark pieces rather than rolled quills. Each piece offers the delicate, warm and sweetly spiced fragrance that makes this traditional kitchen botanical so versatile.
Cinnamon pairs particularly well with Whole Cloves, Star Anise, Ginger, Orange Peel and other fragrant pantry staples.
At Flowers from my Meadow, we keep it pure and uncomplicated: aromatic dried Cinnamon Bark Pieces, carefully packed for your kitchen and botanical pantry.
How to Prepare
For a warming cinnamon infusion: Add 1–2 small pieces of Cinnamon Bark to a saucepan with approximately 250ml water. Simmer gently for 10–15 minutes, then strain before serving.
For cooking and baking: Add the bark to gently simmering sauces, stewed fruit, rice dishes, syrups or spiced beverages. Remove the bark pieces before serving.
Precautions
Cinnamon is generally used in small culinary quantities. Avoid regularly consuming concentrated or medicinal amounts without professional advice.
Ceylon Cinnamon generally contains much less naturally occurring coumarin than cassia cinnamon, although concentrated preparations still require care. Those with liver disease or taking medication should seek medical guidance before using cinnamon in medicinal amounts.
During pregnancy or breastfeeding, use culinary quantities rather than concentrated herbal preparations unless advised otherwise.
