Ginger & Cardamom Warming Infusion

An aromatic pantry infusion of ginger, cardamom and cinnamon for a quiet tea-time ritual.

Ingredients

  • 1 teaspoon dried ginger root pieces
  • 3 whole green cardamom pods, lightly crushed
  • ½ cinnamon stick
  • 2 cups water
  • Honey, optional, added to taste after cooling slightly

How to prepare

  1. Add the dried ginger, lightly crushed green cardamom pods, cinnamon stick and 2 cups water to a small, stable saucepan.
  2. Bring to a gentle simmer, then reduce the heat.
  3. Simmer for 10–15 minutes while keeping the saucepan attended. Do not allow it to boil dry.
  4. Turn off the heat and carefully strain into a heat-safe mug, removing all botanical pieces.
  5. Let the infusion cool to a comfortable drinking temperature. If desired, stir in a little honey before serving.

Preparation & safety notes

This is a culinary botanical infusion, not a medicine. Handle hot water and the saucepan with care; keep children and pets away from hot surfaces and liquids. Do not leave the stove unattended. Ginger and culinary spices may not suit everybody, especially people with spice allergies, sensitivities or certain medical conditions. If pregnant, taking anticoagulant or antiplatelet medicines, or managing a medical condition, ask a qualified healthcare professional whether concentrated herbal or spice infusions are appropriate for you. Honey must not be given to infants younger than 12 months. Do not make claims about pain relief, improved circulation, immunity or therapeutic benefit. Prepare fresh; do not claim a tested shelf life for leftovers.
