A traditional dried botanical bark for preparing herbal decoctions, infusions and botanical preparations.

Our Dried White Willow Bark (Salix alba) is a single botanical traditionally prepared by gently simmering the bark in water to create what is commonly known as white willow bark tea or a herbal decoction.

Unlike delicate flowers and leaves that are simply steeped, botanical barks benefit from a slower preparation. Simmering allows the water time to move through the dried plant material and draw out its naturally occurring botanical compounds and characteristic earthy, woody flavour.

White Willow Bark has a long history within traditional European herbal practice and naturally contains salicin, one of the compounds for which the plant has become particularly well known.

At Flowers from my Meadow, we keep this botanical simple and uncomplicated: dried White Willow Bark, carefully packed for your home apothecary and botanical preparations.

How to Prepare White Willow Bark Tea

Add 1–2 teaspoons of dried White Willow Bark to 1 cup of water. Gently simmer for 15–20 minutes, then strain before serving.

The Story Behind the Bark

White Willow is a graceful tree that has grown alongside rivers, wetlands and damp landscapes for centuries, recognised by its slender branches and narrow silvery-green leaves.

Known botanically as Salix alba, the tree has a long and fascinating history in traditional European herbal practices. The bark is carefully harvested and dried before being cut into the small, rustic pieces used in botanical preparations.

When steeped, White Willow Bark creates an earthy, woody infusion with a naturally bitter character. It can be prepared on its own or thoughtfully combined with other roots, barks and herbs to create more complex botanical blends.

At Flowers from my Meadow, we appreciate botanicals that connect everyday herbal rituals with generations of traditional plant use. Our White Willow Bark is carefully selected and packed to preserve its natural texture and botanical character — ready for traditional preparations, creative blends and your own botanical rituals.
