Chamomile & Lavender Compress
A warm or cool botanical cloth ritual for quiet body care.
Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon dried chamomile
- 1 tablespoon dried lavender
- 2 cups hot water
- One clean cotton cloth
How to prepare
- Steep the dried botanicals in two cups of hot water for 10 minutes in a stable, heat-safe vessel away from children and pets.
- Strain thoroughly to remove flower particles.
- Allow the liquid to cool to a comfortably warm or cool temperature; do not use while hot.
- Soak a clean cotton cloth in the cooled liquid, wring out, and test the cloth temperature against the inner wrist before use.
- Gently place against clean, unbroken skin on the hands, feet or shoulders for a brief comfortable pause. Stop immediately if skin reacts or the cloth feels too warm.
- Discard leftover botanical liquid and launder the cloth; do not store the prepared infusion for later use.
Safety and preparation notes
For external, non-medical use only. Hot liquid and wet compresses may burn: always cool adequately and test first. Do not apply to broken, infected or irritated skin, and avoid eyes, face and mucous membranes. Avoid use if sensitive to lavender, chamomile or Asteraceae/daisy-family plants. Discontinue at any sign of redness, rash, stinging or discomfort. The infusion is not preserved and has no validated storage life. Do not use to treat injuries or medical conditions; seek appropriate clinical care instead.
