Source & storage notes
- Preserved original recipe: This recipe comes from the archived Bilberries Shopify product description, with its exact two-tablespoon dried-berry quantity, one-cup water, one-tablespoon chia ratio, cinnamon and optional honey.
- Timing: The archive calls for 10 minutes of gentle simmering and 10–15 minutes for chia seeds to swell after the pan is removed from the heat.
- Storage: The preserved source advises refrigeration in a clean container and use within three days. Chill promptly, keep refrigerated and discard if spoilage occurs. This storage note is from the original archive, not from shelf-life laboratory testing; do not can or store at room temperature.
- Chia safety: Chia seeds absorb significant water; allow them to hydrate fully in the compote before serving.
- Food sensitivities: Avoid known berry or chia allergies. Honey is optional and not suitable for infants under twelve months. Consult an appropriate professional if medication or medical conditions make regular concentrated botanical use unsuitable.
- Photography: Shows the authentic Bilberries pouch, not prepared compote.
