Bilberries (Vaccinium myrtillus) are wild European cousins of the blueberry, deeply pigmented and rich in antioxidant compounds. These small, dark berries have long been treasured by herbalists for their support of healthy eyes, circulation, and inflammation balance.
Traditionally used to nourish the blood and support night vision, bilberries are still celebrated today for their rich anthocyanin content—compounds known to strengthen capillaries, improve vein tone, and offer gentle protection against oxidative stress.
At Flowers from my Meadow, we love incorporating bilberries into tea blends, tinctures, and immune-supporting syrups. Their earthy tartness and deep blue hue are a beautiful reminder of the wild places from which they come.
