Salvia officinalis · Dried Culinary Sage Leaves · Aromatic Botanical Pantry
Earthy, intensely aromatic and deeply associated with traditional herb gardens, Sage is a distinctive botanical valued for its flavour and fragrance.
Our Common Sage (Salvia officinalis) is a fragrant Mediterranean herb in the mint family. Its softly textured leaves bring a slightly peppery, earthy and distinctly savoury character to traditional cooking, aromatic herbal infusions and botanical blends.
Our dried Salvia officinalis leaves are a classic culinary and botanical pantry ingredient, lovely in roasted vegetables, savoury herb mixtures, warming infusions and traditional preparations.
At Flowers from my Meadow, we keep it pure and uncomplicated: dried Sage Leaves, thoughtfully packed for your botanical pantry.
How to Prepare
For culinary use: Add a small pinch of dried Sage to roasted vegetables, beans, savoury sauces, stuffing or herb butter. Its robust flavour is best used sparingly.
For a traditional infusion: Add a small amount of dried Salvia officinalis to a cup of freshly boiled water, cover and steep for 5–10 minutes, then strain. Its naturally robust herbal flavour pairs well with a little lemon or honey, if desired.
Precautions
Our Salvia officinalis is suitable for appropriate culinary and traditional herbal preparations. Do not ingest concentrated Sage essential oil. Common Sage naturally contains thujone, so concentrated or prolonged medicinal use can be unsafe. Avoid medicinal use during pregnancy or breastfeeding unless advised by a healthcare professional. Consult a healthcare professional if taking medication or managing a medical condition. Stop use if sensitivity occurs.
